'Shatter Me' by Tahereh Mafi is getting a movie!
"Shatter Me," a popular young adult dystopian book by Tahereh Mafi, is officially getting the movie treatment.
On Instagram, Warner Bros. announced that it has acquired the rights to adapt the bestselling book into a film.
The announcement came just in time for the book’s 15th anniversary. It was released in 2011.
In an exclusive interview with Variety, Tahereh said that she has been “tremendously lucky to have a devoted fanbase” for the past 15 years.
“I’m excited for the chance to bring the ‘Shatter Me’ world and characters to life in a way that will honor the fans and their love for these books,” she said.
“Warner Bros. has been a great partner so far, and I’m looking forward to creating a memorable cinematic experience that elevates the series to new heights,” she added.
As of writing, neither the film’s release date nor its cast has been revealed.
“Shatter Me” follows the story of Juliette Ferrars, a teenager with a lethal touch, as she fights against an oppressive totalitarian government known as The Reestablishment.
