'Friday the 13th' prequel sets chilling town mystery into motion in first teaser

"Friday the 13th" is getting a prequel series!

Titled "Crystal Lake," the upcoming series predates the events of the horror cult classic released in 1980.

In the newly released official teaser, the townsfolk of Crystal Lake are disturbed by the tragic drowning that took place a year before.

"There's something in these woods, and all it knows how to do is kill," a resident says.

The trailer also introduces the star of the show: single mother Pam Voorhees, whose continues to grieve her son Jason.

"Crystal Lake" comes out on October 15 on Peacock.

"Friday the 13th" is a 1980 slasher film that follows a group of teenage camp counselors who attempt to surviva a mysterious, relentless killer. —JCB, GMA News
