Pet-friendly: Where to stay, bond, dine with your fur babies in Metro Manila

Several establishments in Metro Manila are becoming increasingly pet-friendly, giving fur parents more options for activities they can enjoy with their pets outside the comforts of home.

In this GMA News Online guide, we list dining spots, hotels, parks, malls, and other activity areas where cats and dogs are more than welcome to join their fur parents.

Where to stay

One of the common challenges fur parents face when planning a staycation is finding an establishment that allows pets to stay with them.

Several hotels have started dedicating pet-friendly areas within their properties, with Ascott Makati even welcoming pets inside hotel rooms.

The property is an ideal location for bonding with your pets because it is directly connected to Glorietta malls, which also allow pets inside.

In celebration of International Cat Day on August 8 and International Dog Day on August 26, Ascott Makati is offering special room rates with the pet fee waived for one pet throughout August and September.

After the promotional period, the hotel will charge a pet maintenance fee of P2,000 per pet.

Other pet-friendly hotels to consider around Metro Manila include Somerset Alabang, Somerset Central Salcedo Makati, Somerset Valero Makati, Citadines Bay City Manila, Citadines Benavidez Makati, Citadines Roces Quezon City, and Ascott Bonifacio Global City.

Where to bond

In Manila City, a new Senior Citizens’ Park and Pet Park has officially opened to the public. Located at Plaza Azul in Pandacan, the nearly one-hectare park features a playground for pets, including slides, stairs, and a secluded, run-friendly space for animals.

The park also features an open space where senior citizens and children can engage in recreational activities.

Meanwhile, in Bonifacio Global City, the Greenway Park welcomes fur parents who want to get their steps in, go for a run, or simply take a leisurely walk with their pets in its lush linear park.

The same goes for Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City. Fur parents and their pets can enjoy the gardens for relaxation and recreation, while many of the restaurants along the area have al fresco spaces where pets can join their owners for a meal.

In Quezon City, a dog park at the Quezon Memorial Circle opened in July as part of the city’s efforts to become more pet-friendly. Among its features are a play area with an obstacle course and benches for fur parents.

All Megaworld Lifestyle Malls properties, including Eastwood City, Lucky Chinatown, Southwoods Malls, Uptown Bonifacio, and Venice Grand Canal, allow pets inside their establishments.

Fur parents simply need to create an account for their pets through the Pet Pass system. Once registered, pets are issued a virtual Pet Pass on their owners’ mobile devices, which they can use to enter the malls.

Meanwhile, pets are also welcome inside SM Supermalls. What sets SM Supermalls apart is its more than 50 dedicated Paw Parks nationwide, including those at SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, and SM City Fairview, among others.

Ayala Malls has likewise joined in the fun, making its properties pet-friendly for “purrfect” family bonding.

Where to dine

Compared with hotels and open spaces, more restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops in Metro Manila are now welcoming pets into their establishments.

In February 2025, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society introduced the “Certified Pet Friendly” seal to recognize establishments that welcome pets of all sizes and breeds.

The initiative follows backlash against a Tagaytay restaurant that claimed to be pet-friendly but denied entry to an 18-kilogram aspin.

In Quezon City, Chinese tea house Chagee opened its first-ever pet-friendly store in Southeast Asia in Eastwood City.

Other restaurants in Quezon City with pet-friendly spaces include Pat & Pat’s, Slap Stack Burgers, Wabi Sabi, and Olivia’s Fusion Café, Odd Café, and Tatatito, to name a few.

In Makati City, fur parents can also enjoy a meal with their pets at establishments that offer dedicated menus for animals, including Shake Shack, Witlover Café, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, among others.

Meanwhile, in Bonifacio Global City, there is no need to worry about leaving your pets behind. They are welcome at Pocofino, Wong Place, Baker J, Masa Bakehouse, Ramen Ron, Steak and Frice, A Mano, and Nono’s, among other restaurants.

When going out in public spaces, pet owners are encouraged to be responsible for their fur babies by ensuring that they are fully vaccinated for their safety and the safety of other animals.

When strolling in public areas, pet owners should keep their pets in carriers or on leashes at all times. Owners of unleashed animals that injure another person may be fined P500 under the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007. —CDC, GMA News
