Five siblings haul 400 medals over the years due to intelligence, diligence

Every year, the five Sombillo siblings based in Pampanga have been cited for their academic achievements. In fact, their total medal haul to date has reached 400, a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday said.

If not valedictorians, they were named salutatorians over the years.

Maria Therese Franceska Sombillo, who finished valedictorian this school year, credits faith in God and diligence for her success.

"Kung wala pong faith kay God, hindi mo ma-a-achieve 'yung mga gusto mong ma-achieve. Tapos po, sipag at tiyaga," she said.

Their mother Nancy, on the other hand, said it is crucial to be there for the children.

"Napakahalaga ng may maraming time sa mga anak. Sinisigurado kasi namin na kapag may mga mahahalagang pangyayari o event sa school, talagang ang suporta nandoon sa mga anak," she explained.

Three of the siblings are now in college in Manila. —KG, GMA News
