Kapampangan beauty queen Francesca Taruc won the first pageant title for the Philippines in China this week.

She was crowned Miss Tourism World Intercontinental in a red gown with immediately recognizable symbols from the Philippine flag. 

The gown, aptly called three stars and a sun, is designed by Benj Leguiab IV.

It was previously worn by Alyssa Muhlach, who represented the Philippines as Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2018 in Bolivia.

Leguiab also designed Alyssa's blue evening gown for Miss World Philippines 2018, which featured the country's archipelago. 

Francesca, 20, hails from Angeles City. She holds a degree in Communication and is the granddaughter of Supremo Luis Taruc. — AT, GMA News
