Sari Yap, founder of Mega Magazine, has passed away

Mega Magazine founder Sari Yap has passed away on Monday, September 9.

According to Sari's sister Ria, Sari had ovarian cancer.

On Facebook, Mega Magazine said Sari “peacefully joined our creator at 2:07 a.m., in the presence of her family.”

Sari established Mega Magazine, the first Filipino-owned glossy fashion magazine, after finishing her master's degree in Spain with a sobresaliente cum laude thesis.

Apart from wanting to show Filipinas na "hindi kailangan malaswa yung suot mo para maging maganda ka," Sari wanted to “impact the lifestyle of society in a positive way and showcase the best of the Filipino to the world,” Sari told Mel Tiangco in a 2011 episode of GMA program Powerhouse.

Sari would go on to establish One Mega Group, a publishing house that sprouted up to 10 titles covering a wide variety of topics, lifestyles, and audiences.

According to Suki Salvador, asst. vice president  for creatives and productions at One Mega Group, a wake will be held in Sari's honor on September 11, starting at 10am, at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Makati.

Rest in peace. — LA, GMA News
