Local bag brand Katre brings back classic tote for 10th year

To celebrate her fashion label Katre's 10th year, stylist and makeup artist Kat Erro is bringing back its classic City Tote, with designs inspired by "the humble duvet that gave comfort to Kat against the freezing nights of London," where she had the eureka moment that started her business enterprise.

Kat was working at department store Harvey Nichols in the British capital when she realized that more than brand names, customers are convinced to make a purchase because of the quality of a product.

This realization inspired her to explore and take courses in shoemaking, personal styling, and interior decoration—kick-starting her journey to building Katre.

In 2009, when she and her family moved back to Manila, she started Katre Fashion House, experimenting on making ready-to wear-clothes and fashion accessories until she finally found her brand's niche in 2011: creating high-quality leather handbags.

The first collection featured the City Tote, a chic item whose classic and elegant look will fit any style, whether you go for a flashy or a simple outfit.

Katre has also become well-known for its round Boite handbags, introduced in 2012 when that design was not yet on trend.

The brand also allows its clients a hint of personalization by stamping their initials or names on the leather goods. Recently, they have even allowed the client's own handwriting transferred to their chosen leather item. — BM, GMA News
