Out of love, older brother creates sister's ball gown for JS Prom

To save on renting an expensive prom dress for his sister, a young man from Zamboanga took it upon himself to create a beautiful blue ball gown—from scratch!

In Katrina Son's report for "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho," Maverick Oyao said that he had no prior experience in sewing but he still persisted because he wanted to fulfill his younger sister Keanna's wish of attending her prom.

Maverick said that he referred to online videos on how to piece up a ball gown. He also asked for his mom's help in sewing the cloth.

When the skirt of the gown was completed, the brother painted the other parts by hand.

The finished product, which featured a multi-paneled mermaid flared design and big ruffled sleeves, looked gorgeous on Keanna.

In another report from Unang Balita, Maverick said that even if Keanna did not win the "Best Dressed" award, she was still a winner in her brother's eyes. —Angelica Y. Yang/MGP, GMA News
