How the modern Filipina rises above expectations

Oh, what a time to be a woman. Also, what a time to be a Filipina. A world of choices has opened up for Filipinas, full of opportunities in education and employment, while also helping to change perceptions on body image and beauty. Antiquated gender roles in history are finally out, leaving the way open for her-story.

These days, every Filipina is finding the words to write her own story, every Filipina makes time to turn on the bright lights on her own stage. She knows she's conditioned for greater things. Find out below some reasons behind the Filipina's ability to be consistently on top of her game.

Unfettered, she soars

The International Labour Organization (ILO) has released information on how women have been making great strides in education and the workforce. As of 2018, women have surpassed men in acquiring tertiary education all over the world. In Asia and the Pacific, there is a steady increase in number of management positions being occupied by women.

More and more, successful and determined women are doing well in paving the way for generations of girls to achieve even greater things.

Supported, she grows

In the Philippines, the ILO survey showed that women preferred to work at paid jobs (37%) more than staying home, doing housework and caring for families (15%), and 47% of women preferred doing both. This is where support, in the form of legislature, comes for working women.

Laws like the expanded maternity leave are helping women give their children the proper care during crucial months, while safeguarding their health and securing their places in the workforce. The solo parent act has also been useful to many women, especially because the Philippine Statistics Authority has pegged that two-thirds of the three million solo parents are female. Knowing about and using these benefits can give many women opportunities to find time to 'have it all.'

Challenged, she rises

The advancement of women, however, is not without challenges. There are open doors, yes, but there are still a lot more closed ones. Barriers are still in place and women are still pressured to work twice as hard as men to be successful.

These challenges only served to encourage Filipinas to continuously better themselves and rise above expectations. Filipinas already have a leg up in dealing with these difficulties because like Cream Silk’s battle cry, they are conditioned for greater.

Despite the great strides that they have accomplished, a brand survey found out that 7 out 10 Filipinas are still settling. Meaning, they are unfulfilled with where they are professionally and feel like they can do more than what they are doing now. Cream Silk answers that call for fulfillment by launching #ConditionedForGreater, an online academy offering 15 free online courses for aspiring businesswomen, creatives, and storytellers. Partnering with Edukasyon.ph, the largest education technology platform in the Philippines, the site is curated by industry experts and renowned universities from all over the world.

Cream Silk's desire to always elevate the power of the Filipina has made them go beyond hair care and create a standard of beauty that includes creating capable, independent women who are ready to run the world.
