Heart Evangelista reveals she auditioned for a role on ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

Heart Evangelista has revealed that she auditioned for the role of Araminta Lee on Kevin Kwan’s “Crazy Rich Asians.”

In a vlog posted by dermatologist Dr. Aivee Teo on Sunday, she and Heart reacted to some of their old photos.

When a photo of Heart was shown beside English actress Gemma Chan who played Astrid Leong-Teo in the film, the actress recalled her audition.

“I auditioned (for Araminta) and it was like they were in the last leg of their auditions and I got a call. I remember I got a crew and I did a scene like from a telenovela,” she said.

Heart said that after the audition, she was informed that she was being considered for a role in the movie.

“Sabi [noong agent from Los Angeles], ‘your presentation paused in the middle of the showing’ and they got curious about me like ‘who’s this girl?’” said Heart.

“So they’re willing to take a break if [I] could send an e-mail of the [audition] so they could continue watching,” she added.

However, she didn’t get a callback. “Then they asked if I was available to shoot so yes, of course, then they never came back,” she said.

According to Heart, she is just thankful for the fact that she was told she was one of the choices to portray a character in the film.

“There’s always a reason for everything. Again, ayaw [ko] nang mangarap nang todo. Okay na kung ano mang ibigay,” she said.

She added that she wasn’t vocal about it before because it was “painful” and she didn’t want to be “arrogant.”
