IKEA logo is now up at the facade of first-ever Philippine store

Swedish furniture-maker IKEA has put up its iconic logo at the storefront of its Philippine flagship store in Pasay City.

"This is a huge milestone for us as we work towards opening our very first IKEA store in the country,” IKEA Philippines store and Market Development Manager Georg Platzer told GMA News Online.

“We're almost there, and we're very excited to be a part of creating a better everyday life at home for many more people in the Philippines,” he added.

The new outlet located at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay is set to be the biggest in the world.

Ikea said the store is 65,000-square meters in size, and plans to hire nearly 500 workers for the branch.

IKEA Philippines is expected to open in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2021, with its online operations to begin ahead of the opening of the physical store.

In 2018, IKEA held a press conference to announce its arrival in the Philippines, saying about 9,000 products will be on offer, with its famous food products on the agenda.
