Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens taps Pinoy designer Michael Cinco for her pageant gown

Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens has tapped Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco as her official gown designer for the pageant.

Nova announced the news weeks ago by posting a photo with the renowned designer on Instagram.

"BOSS! Michael Cinco needs no introduction! So grateful to have you as my official gown designer for Miss Universe," she wrote followed by a heart-eyed emoji.

Michael also posted photos of Nova clad in a yellow couture gown shot in Dubai by Adam Browning-Hill.

"The super stunning and statuesque Miss CANADA Universe NOVA STEVENS  is ready to conquer the UNIVERSE in a couture Michael Cinco gown," the caption read.

The Canadian beauty queen recently trended after she posted a photo of herself showing the netizens' racist remarks which were in Tagalog.

On Wednesday, the Canadian beauty queen shared another photo of herself, this time full of positive comments from Filipino fans.

Nova said she is not sharing it to spread hate, and that she just wants the incident to be "a teaching moment so that we can make pageants fun and enjoyable for all."

The Miss Universe candidate said all the girls competing have worked hard for the pageant “and deserve to have the best experience.”

“Cheer for your girls with love and respect for the other delegates because they too are deserving of the ‘Miss Universe’ crown. Spread love not hate,” she wrote in her note.

The Philippine bet for Miss Universe 2020, Rabiya Mateo, personally apologized to Miss Universe Canada Nova Stevens and Miss Universe Thailand Amanda Obdam for the negative and racist comments of some Filipino fans.

Nova will be representing Canada at the Miss Universe pageant which will be held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on May 16 (May 17 in Philippine time).

Meanwhile, Rabiya Mateo will be representing the Philippines in the pageant.
