Adidas to open its largest store in the Philippines: What to expect

Adidas is set to open its largest store in the Philippines on October 22.

It will be called the Brand Center and it will occupy a whopping 1,500 sqm in Makati's Glorietta 3. It will have a selling space of 1,300 sqm filled with a wide range of sporting and lifestyle goods.

According to a press release, the Brand Center "aims to elevate Manila and the Philippines to the world stage for adidas" and "inspired the athlete in all of us."

Surprisingly, sustainability is listed as among its values alongside sport, culture, and life.

Here are some of the things you can expect from Adidas' largest store in the Philippines.

1. A 1:1 service ratio

According to a press statement, guests will be treated to a 1:1 service as the Brand Center will have dedicated in-store specialists. It will also have a digital guide, accessed via QR codes, with more details on each section.

The sprawling store will need to offer this because look: the Brand Center will house the country's largest collection of adidas products, including exclusive gear such as for golf and trail and outdoor.

2. A dozen "moment areas" with a touch of Filipino

Inside the Brand Center are 12 moment areas or spaces that bring together sport and culture. But not just any culture — the unique Filipino heritage will be on full display.

Artworks in fitting areas were made in partnership with Argao weavers in Visayas and T’boli women in Mindanao. The Women’s Ramp is housed in wood slat and finished with clay disks that are locally hand-made.

Works by Filipino visual artist Kris Abrigo, contemporary art group Aral Cru, and Filipino illustrator, toy designer, and adidas partner Quiccs are displayed all around Brand Center.

The 12 "moment areas" are Men’s and Women’s Launch Zones, Basketball Area, City Shop, Maker Lab, Women’s Ramp, Sustainability Ramp, Men’s and Women’s Fitting Rooms, Hype Wall, Collection Ramp, and the Collection Cash Desk.

3. Customization at the Maker Lab

The Brand Center will have a Maker Lab, where consumers can customize their favorite Adidas product. It will have an "all-new laser technology, ensuring that the room for one’s creativity is limitless."

"With a range of art pieces, the area is open to anyone, so long as they are open to bringing their imagination to life," the press statement adds.

Pro-tip: In the Maker Lab, look for the pendant lights in the shape the Philippine Eagle. From afar, it will appear as the three stars seen in the Philippine flag.

4. Sustainability is the Brand Center's main core

Aside from promising an elevated retail experience, adidas Brand Center will soon be a home to sustainability ramp, as it serves the brand's call to end plastic waste.

Composed of a life-sized digital tunnel with a full wall of curved LED mesh and four large OLED displays, the sustainability ramp will tackle the issue of marine plastic pollution through an immersive experience for customers.

"Ultimately, it aims to spark conversations about sustainability, and how everyone has the capability to lead the change," the press release read.
