Met Gala: Kim Kardashian reportedly wears Marilyn Monroe's 'Happy Birthday Mr. President' dress

Expect nothing less from Kim Kadashian.

The American socialite arrived at the Met Gala wearing a glittery figure-hugging dress reportedly worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1962 when she infamously sang "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" at the 45th birthday party of US President John F. Kennedy.

According to Vogue Magazine, Kim spent "14 hours straight" dying her hair blonde to pull off the fashion moment — and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Citing Vogue's live stream of the event, Variety reports Kim saying she also had to lose 16 pounds in three weeks just to fit the Jean-Louis dress, which is now owned by Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum.

In the Vogue story, the businesswoman shared, “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”

The entire months-long preparation includes three fittings, a private flight — for the dress! — and what Vogue describes as "a highly sophisticated military operation" of getting dressed.

It sure is a huge production for a fashionably historical moment that lasted just a few minutes.

According to Vogue, Kim changed into a replica of the dress "once she successfully climbed the stairs."

On Instagram, Kim said she was "so honored" to be wearing the dress and thanked Ripley's for "for giving me the opportunity to debut this evocative piece of fashion history for the first time since the late Marilyn Monroe wore it."

"It is a stunning skintight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals by costumier Jean Louis," she added.
