What will the Marcoses wear on inauguration day?

Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s camp announced on Wednesday that he will wear a barong designed by Pepito Albert on his inauguration as the Philippines' 17th president.

According to the Marcos camp, the incoming president will wear a modern barong inspired by the rayadillo, which was a traditional military uniform in the Spanish era, for the morning activities.

For the evening events, Marcos will put on a fully-embroidered barong from Taal.

Albert also designed barongs for the president-elect's three sons, his mother former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and his sister Irene Marcos-Araneta.

Marcos and Imelda will also wear locally-made shoes.

The terno, which will be worn by the president-elect's wife, Liza Araneta-Marcos, was designed by Filipino designer Lesley Mobo. Her terno was made from a vintage piña fabric.

His elder sister, Senator Imee Marcos, decided to choose a different designer for her outfit.

The inauguration will be held at the National Museum, formerly known as the Old Legislative Building, on Thursday. The ceremony, according to Marcos' camp, will be solemn, simple, and traditional.

Television host Toni Gonzaga will sing the Philippine National Anthem, while the inauguration song, "Pilipinas Kong Mahal," will be performed by singer Cris Villonco and the Young Voices of the Philippines Choir.

Representatives from various foreign governments will also take part in the inauguration activities. —VBL, GMA News
