This homegrown fashion brand champions body positivity with inclusive pieces from XS to 4XL

For women, finding the right fit from the usual small, medium, and large options usually makes it hard for them to shop for clothes. Some women find their sizes in the middle of small and medium, while some go beyond large.

Understanding these women's struggles is what inspired Tayo Studio to create an all-inclusive line of clothes ranging from XS to 4XL with comfort and style in mind.

In an exclusive interview with Tayo Studio founder Yong Davalos, the Filipina fashion designer said that she created her brand to create clothes that flatter most body shapes and sizes.

"We emphasized the word flatter because a lot of clothes these days are made to fit but not made to flatter. We want women to embrace their curves," Yong told GMA Integrated News.

In 2019, Yong created Tayo Studio. With its stylish designs and vibrantly colored pieces, it has since become an Instagram-beloved brand among Filipina millennials and Gen Zs, with over 171,000 followers, as of writing.

"Tayo is designed for Filipina women specifically," she said. "We consider both height and body shape to complement Pinays' typical body."

Aside from being inclusive of all body types, Tayo Studio is also utilizing its social media presence to educate its consumers about sustainability and ethical labor practices, with most of its pieces made from deadstock fabrics that are locally sourced.

When asked what type of Filipina wears a Tayo Studio piece, Yong described her as a "happy woman."

"She is full of love, life, and joy. She puts herself first and she values feeling and looking good," Yong added.

Tayo Studio is available on Shopee and Lazada. It also has a physical store in SM Mall of Asia.
