Pinoy artist Yeo Kaa tapped by sportswear brand for limited-edition shoe design

Adidas collaborates with Filipino artist Yeo Kaa

Adidas's latest hyperlocal release is all about pops of color, all thanks to its recent collaboration with Filipino artist Yeo Kaa.

In this new collaboration, the sportswear brand is set to reintroduce Rivalry 86 Low with its "Strong Girl" colorway designed by Yeo.

Yeo Kaa is best known for her paintings illustrating her iconic candy-colored characters, which is reflected in the new "Strong Girl Needs Rest Too" art theme depicted on the shoe.

"'Yung concept ng shoes is about strength. 'Yung pinaka-pinaghuhugutan ko ngayon is 'yung feeling na akala ko hindi na matatapos 'yung ganong pakiramdam na masama at mabigat. But lilipas at lilipas rin pala siya at magiging OK rin ang lahat sa huli," Yeo said in a press release.

["The concept behind the shoes is strength. I drew inspiration from how I felt that hardships and heaviness would be endless, but I realized that this too, will pass, and everything will be okay in the end."]

The Rivalry 86 Low "Strong Girl" colorway features bright blue and solar green stripes, which Yeo associated with her new state of calmness and freshness.

Yeo's signature character, as seen in most of her artworks, also makes several appearances on the shoe, the most noticeable of which is stitched to the heel.

Other Filipino artists who have collaborated with Adidas in the past include Quiccs, Egg Fiasco, and Jappy Agoncillo, among others.

The Rivalry 86 Low "Strong Girl" will retail for P6,800 and will be available in-store and online starting on Thursday.
