Met Gala 2026 announces dress code

The annual Met Gala is just over two months away, and the dress code has officially been revealed.

On Instagram, Vogue announced "Fashion Is Art" is the theme for 2026, and it is an invitation for guests to interpret fashion as an embodied art form and to express their personal relationship with it.

Happening on May 4, 2026, the first Monday of May, the gala will celebrate "Costume Art," the spring exhibition of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

This year’s Met Gala co-chairs are Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, alongside Vogue's global editorial director Anna Wintour.

First organized in 1948, the Met Gala serves as a fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute and has since become one of fashion’s most anticipated nights.

In 2025, celebrities gathered for the annual event in looks inspired by the "Tailored for You" dress code, offering personal interpretations on the red carpet.
