Papemelroti's original Mandaluyong branch to shut down due to mall redevelopment

Papemelroti's original branch in SM Megamall is set to close its doors beginning June 1. The store will remain open for the rest of May.

On Facebook, the beloved Filipino stationery brand announced that the scheduled closure is due to the "mall redevelopment" of the Mandaluyong mall.

"To our loyal Megamall customers, you've seen us through every era," Papemelroti wrote.

"From our first-ever spot to where we are now, we've loved every second of this journey with you," they added. "Though it's sad to close this one, we're so hyped for the next chapter!"

However, Papemelroti's branch at Shangri-La Plaza remains operational.

In 2024, the brand's co-founder, Robert Alejandro, passed away. He was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016.

In a 2021 episode of "The Howie Severino Podcast," Robert said art is a form of healing that helps people forget their problems.

An award-winning artist who earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1984, Robert also held free online workshops for art lovers stuck at home during the pandemic.
