Marks & Spencer returns to PH with first store set in Glorietta

Marks & Spencer (M&S) has signed a new franchise agreement for its Philippine operations, paving the way for the brand’s return to the local market later this year, with its first store scheduled to open in Glorietta in Makati.

In a statement on Monday, M&S announced that Indonesian retailer PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP) will become its new franchise partner in the Philippines.

Under the partnership, M&S said its Fashion, Home & Beauty, and Food products will be available again in the country by the end of 2026.

In a statement, M&S International Managing Director Mark Lemming said the company is confident in expanding with MAP as it pursues growth across Southeast Asia.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with MAP into the Philippines. Having played a pivotal role in driving our growth in Indonesia, MAP’s deep local expertise gives us confidence as we accelerate our growth plans in Southeast Asia. We know there is strong demand for the M&S brand in the Philippines, and we’re excited to reopen our stores and online channels later this year,” he said.

Earlier this year, M&S confirmed it would transition to a new franchise partner after the end of its more than two-decade partnership with Stores Specialists Inc. (SSI), which previously operated the brand in the country.
