The exact ruffled socks Alex Eala wore at her first Manila fan meet after Wimbledon

Alex Eala brought a piece of her childhood to her first fan meet in Manila following her historic stint at this year's Wimbledon.

At Monday's event held at Nike Fort in Bonifacio Global City, the World No. 28 arrived in a crisp white shirt featuring the inspiring Filipino phrase, "Kapag lumago, hindi na hihinto," with a graphic of a sampaguita printed on the back.

The same Filipino phrase also appeared on the custom visor she wore throughout her Wimbledon campaign.

The Filipina tennis ace paired the shirt with black trousers, white mules, and white ruffled socks: a subtle nod to the heartfelt speech she delivered after defeating Iga Swiatek in the third round of Wimbledon.

"I went to training with my brother and my grandfather every day after school with my ruffled socks and my light-up shoes and chubby cheeks, so to her, this is everything,” Alex said in her emotional speech.

While the pair she wore at the fan meet wasn't the same one from her childhood, fans wondering where to get a similar look can find it at Nike, dubbed the Micro-Crew Socks. It retails for P1,045 for a two-pair pack and is available in five colorways: black, white, white/blue, blue/white, and blue.

At the event, Alex got to meet budding tennis player Scarlett Kramer, the daughter of celebrity couple Cheska and Doug Kramer.

Alex arrived in the Philippines on Sunday morning following her Wimbledon campaign and a quick stop in Sweden to catch Bad Bunny’s concert.

She is set to hold another fan meet on Wednesday at the Glorietta Activity Center.
