Imee Marcos wears 'retaso' outfit at opening of 20th Congress: 'Parang bansa natin'
Senator Imee Marcos made a statement with her outfit at the opening of the 20th Congress on Monday morning.
She appeared in an all-black ensemble of a modern barong and a long skirt with a frilly silhouette.
On Instagram, Marcos shared the meaning behind her look.
"Ang damit ko puros retaso, parang bansa natin gutay-gutay, hiwa-hiwa, biyak-biyak, tira-tira!" Marcos said.
Marcos also accessorized with gold jewelry and a black woven bag with gold details and a special portrait.
"Ang bag ko kumupas na nga, luma na, puro tira-tira, may earrings na walang kapares at nilagyan ko rin ng mga litrato ng aking ama na walang katulad," Marcos said.
The senator is the daughter of the late president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and the sister of incumbent president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
The opening session of the Congress precedes the penultimate State of the Nation Address of President Marcos on Monday afternoon.
