Marienplatz: A shopper's paradise and must-see attraction in Munich

A trip to Munich, Germany would not be complete without a visit to Marienplatz, the city's central square where visitors can shop, dine, and see one of its most famous attractions.

According to Lyn Ching’s report on “Unang Hirit,” Marienplatz, located at the heart of Munich, is surrounded by shops selling everything from beauty products and clothes to food and toys.

A long pedestrian street runs through the area, making it a car-free space where visitors can freely walk around and explore the stores.

But the main attraction at Marienplatz is the Rathaus-Glockenspiel, a giant mechanical clock installed in the tower of Munich's New Town Hall.

At scheduled times each day, life-size figures on the clock move as part of the glockenspiel's display. The attraction draws visitors to the plaza, with many gathering to watch the figures in action.

Visitors can also enter the Rathaus for a €7 fee.

For those looking for budget-friendly ways to enjoy Marienplatz, there are coffee shops around the square where they can sit and take in the surroundings.
