PHL officials in UAE woo Pinoys' support for Vigan as new 7 wonders city
Filipinos in the United Arab Emirates were urged to log on and vote for Vigan City in Ilocos Sur as one of the world's new seven wonder cities.
The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai noted Vigan is one of the 28 official finalists in the New 7 Wonders-Cities of the World, with voting due to end Dec. 7.
“Let us together show our solidarity like we did for Puerto Princesa Underground River, one of New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012. Let us advance the cause to have Vigan included in the prestigious roster,” a report on Khaleej Times quoted Vice-Consul Geronimo Suliguin as saying.).
He said Filipino expatriates and their families should visit www.n7w.com/en/cities and cast their votes.
The Khaleej Times report noted Vigan is recognized by Unesco for Best Practice in World Heritage Site Management.
Last week, Filipinos in the United States were similarly urged to vote for Vigan City as one of the seven new wonder cities of the world.
"As what they did for the Puerto Princesa Underground River two years ago, the Filipino community in the United States is being urged to rally behind Vigan as it contends for a spot as one of the seven new wonder cities of the world," the embassy said.
