Amanpulo named one of world’s top luxury beach hotels

The island resort of Amanpulo has made it on Financial Times' list of the top luxury beach hotels in the world.

“This is the place to live out luxury desert island fantasies,” the report quoted James Jayasundera of Ampersand Travel as saying, and added:

From the moment the private plane touches down on the island’s airstrip, you know you’re in for something special. Spend days windsurfing, sailing or scuba diving, relaxing in the spa or taking it easy in the hammock of your luxury casita.

A favorite among well-heeled local and foreign tourists, including celebrities, Amanpulo is on Pamalican Island, one of the Cuyo islands in northern Palawan in the Sulu Sea. According to its website, Amanpulo boasts a 6.5-kilometer white sand beach—the island's entire perimeter—and a coral reef. The resort has villas and 42 casitas, and offers a number of aquatic activities, including diving and windsurfing.

Amanpulo joins other resorts from countries such as Seychelles, the Maldives, Italy, France, South Africa, and Australia on the list. — BM, GMA News
