A green trip at the heart of the city care of Gardens by the Bay

The moment visitors arrive in the city-state and island of Singapore, they're treated to it's impressive architecture.

It's not long before the Singapore Flyer comes into view as one drives to the heart of the city and shortly after, the grandness of view of the Marina Bay Sands might leave one sighing — perhaps in envy of all the beauty that fits in such a small area.

Singapore offers plenty of attractions — which one can see as a "billion dollar view" atop the National Gallery Singapore — but it's not a cold island of sprawling concrete and steel.

Gardens By The Bay is an incredible feat of engineering that helped a forest bloom at the heart of the city.

A "super tree" is as tall as a 16-storey building, made of steel with panels that provide plants a space to crawl and grow. Entrance to the Supertree Grove is free, but for SGD 8 (P300), visitors can walk the 128-meters OCBC Skyway and enjoy a superb view.

A tip from expert biyahero Drew Arellano: Take the trip to the aerial walkway in the morning, to enjoy great lighting and nice breeze.

Visiting Supertree Grove in the evening is a treat as well, as the structures have built in solar panels that store energy that powers the Garden Rhapsody Light and Sound Show.

The nearby Flower Dome is a marvelous 1.2 hectare conservatory that houses plants from 5 continents in 9 gardens. Once you enter the dome, Drew said, you can immediately smell that comforting scent of trees and plants.

Another major attraction is the Cloud Forest, perfect for people who might not be able to trek or hike anymore, but would love to see a waterfall.

The waterfall is man-made, but all around it are plants that give it — according to Drew — a "Jurassic Park" feel. Visitors can take a leisurely walk around the area and, if they're up to it, make a hike down from the highest point of the exhibit (2,000 meters above sea level!).

Perhaps the best part of Gardens by the Bay is the theater, which educates visitors about Climate Change.
