Exploring the Philippines is a tall order: It has more than 7,000 islands, after all.  

Enter Lakbay Museo. The a newly opened museum in Pasay City offers a taste of the many different things from each region in the Philippines.

Here are the things you can experience in Lakbay Museo.

1. Roam the streets of Metro Manila

One of the first things you would see when you enter the museum is a tiny version of a typical Metro Manila street, complete with a palengke, a sari-sari store, and carinderia.

Here you'd be able to learn about the different kinds of dried fish and see the collection of vinegars and bagoong.

2. Get buzzed trying out the different kinds of alcohol

If you didn't know, there are different kinds of alcohol brewed in the Philippines, and Lakbay Museo has them.

The best part? You can get a taste of these liquors for free!

3. Learn about each region of the Philippines

Each region has unique things to offer, and the museum gives you a glimpse of them all. From the different longganisa in the Ilocos Region, to the Mayon Volcano in the Bicol Region, Lakbay Museo has them all. It even shows the different festivals celebrated in the provinces.

4. Check out the seafood capital of the Philippines

Did you know that Western Visayas is considered the seafood capital of the Philippines? This part of the museum has the theme "under the sea," and not only does it give information about the different seafood in this region, it also raises awareness about the effects of water pollution.

5. Learn about the country's different instruments

In the Mindanao area of Lakbay Museo is the display of the Philippines' different instruments, such as the kulintang and the agung.

Cultural performers treat visitors to a show and even demonstrate how to play them.

6. Participate in cultural dances

The museum also lets you join the cultural performers as they perform the cultural dances of the country. It also provides a traditional costume for you to wear.

7. Buy pasalubong from different regions

And as though you were actually traveling to the different regions in the Philippines, you can't leave without buying souvenirs! Before you leave, drop by the shop that sells pasalubong — the souvenirs themselves came from different provinces.
