Filipinos can visit Korea’s Jeju Island, YangYang without a visa starting June

Filipinos can finally visit Korea’s Jeju Island and Yangyang even with no visa beginning June 1, 2022.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines, visitors of Jeju Island are allowed entrance only through direct flights and can stay there for up to 30 days.

The embassy however said Filipino tourists aren’t permitted to travel to other regions outside the island.

For those visiting Yangyang, meanwhile, tourists should book a group tour program arranged by any of the eight designated travel agencies in this list. They can stay in the county for 15 days.

While Pinoy visitors can visit places located in Gangwon Province and the Seoul Metropolitan Area, they are still required to return to the Philippines via the Yangyang International Airport.

This initiative from the Korean Embassy hopes to “promote people-to-people exchanges between Korea and the Philippines via tourism.”

The Korean Embassy introduced the three ways to enter Korea without a visa plan in 2019. But, the visa-free policy to Jeju Island was suspended on Feb. 4, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Issuance of tourist and all types of visas by the South Korean Embassy, meanwhile, will also resume on June 1. — LA, GMA News
