Hailey Mendes enjoys horseback riding, island-hopping in Masbate
Hailey Mendes introduced the wonders of her hometown Masbate to the Kapuso viewers this summer!
In the latest Summer Sparkle Adventure in "24 Oras," Wednesday, Hailey went island-hopping and visited the Animasola Island.
According to Maricris Vilar, an accredited Department of Tourism tour guide, Animasola is Latin for "lonely soul." The island is known for its sedimentary rock formation.
"It is called the lonely soul because it is somewhere in the middle. Parang nag-iisa lang siya," Maricris said.
Behind the Animasola, there is a place called Mermaid's Lair.
"Ang kuwentong bayan noon ay ito raw ay mga tambayan ng serena," Maricris said.
Hailey also went to Sombrero Island, where travelers can find what she called a "mini sandbar."
"Sobrang linaw din po ng tubig and sobrang peaceful din po ng paligid," she said.
On the way to Sombrero Island, they also passed by Templo Island, which has a spot for cliff diving for all the daredevils and adrenaline junkies.
Amid all the island hopping, Hailey also enjoyed unli seafood on Burias Island.
And since Masbate is known as the Rodeo Capital of the Philippines, Hailey also went horseback riding, which she said was her first time to do so.
Hailey, who most recently starred on the GMA series, "Underage," also shared a bit about her family's connection to Masbate.
"'Yung mom side ko po talaga 'yung taga Placer, Masbate. Bale, lolo at lola ko po 'yung kasama ko nung lumaki ako. Sila po 'yung nag-alaga sa 'kin. Kaya Bisaya po talaga ko lumaki," she said.
