Sultan Kudarat names Chelsea Fernandez as tourism ambassadress, declares Dec. 20 as 'Miss Chelsea Day'
Chelsea Fernandez has been named the tourism ambassadress of Sultan Kudarat, with the province also declaring December 20 of every year as “Miss Chelsea Day” in honor of her achievement as Miss Cosmo 2025 runner-up.
On Instagram, Miss Cosmo shared photos and videos from the ceremony, where the Filipina beauty queen turned emotional as she reacted to the tribute.
“With immense pride, the Province of Sultan Kudarat officially honors Chelsea Fernandez, not only as a symbol of excellence on the global Cosmo stage, but as a lasting source of inspiration for her people,” Miss Cosmo wrote in the caption.
Because December 20 is when Chelsea made history on the international pageant stage, the day will now also be celebrated annually in her name.
“December 20 of every year is hereby declared ‘MISS CHELSEA DAY’ - a day that celebrates her remarkable achievement as Runner-Up Miss Cosmo 2025 and the pride she brought to the Philippines,” the pageant said. “Two honors. One legacy. A daughter of Sultan Kudarat whose journey continues to inspire beyond the crown. This is more than recognition - this is history being written.”
Chelsea expressed disbelief and excitement over the honor.
“Did you hear that, guys? I’m gonna have my own day, special day, aside from my birthday. December 20. Thank you for this special gift, Sultan Kudarat,” she said in tears.
Chelsea was named Miss Cosmo 2025 Runner-Up at the pageant held in Vietnam. She also won Cosmo People’s Choice, garnering more than 28.3 million online votes during the pageant.
She returned to the Philippines on January 26 landing in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 1:30 p.m, and came home to Sultan Kudarat the following day.
She was welcomed by her kababayans with a grand homecoming parade.
