It usually happens that an outing between friends fails to push through because of a variety of reasons. But for a trio in Puerto Princesa in Palawan, Mother Nature had other plans for a sudden trip to what was supposed to be a cool dip in a river.

Seeking a break from the summer heat, Youscooper Sherlyn Rivas shared that she and her friends Blith Angel Patnongon and Michelle Decierto decided to visit the Irawan River for a refreshing swim.

"Sa sobrang init ng panahon, biglang nag-chat si Michelle [na] maligo sa ilog doon sa Irawan, since nakaligo na po siya doon last month. And before kami pumunta, nagtanong po muna kami kung may tubig sa isang kakilala and sabi meron naman daw po kaya pinuntahan namin," said Rivas.

(It’s very hot, Michelle suggested via chat that we swim in the river in the town of Irawan, since she went there last month. Before we went, we asked someone we knew if there was water and we were told there was so we decided to go.)

Despite the sun's rays beating down on them, the group walked for 15 minutes to reach the river. But as they neared their destination, someone told them it was already dry.

With the motto “to see is to believe”, the friends decided to proceed. When they finally got to the river, they were greeted by sun-baked rocks instead of cold water.

The river had dried up due to the hot climate.

"Mag-outing tayo walang ilog?" the friends asked themselves.

(We’re pushing with the outing even when there's no more river?)

Unfazed by the situation, the friends chose to relax and have a picnic beside the riverbed.

Some netizens found the story amusing, with someone joking that, "'Yung tubig naman ngayon 'yung drawing (the water decided not to join them)." —RF, GMA News
