PAGCOR revenues down 23.41% in Jan.-Sept. 2026
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) saw a double-digit decline in its revenues in the first nine months of 2026.
In a news release on Thursday, PAGCOR reported that its January to September 2026 total revenues stood at P64.41 billion, down 23.41% from P84.09 billion top line seen in the same period last year.
The state-run gaming firm said the decline is attributed to weaker earnings from gaming operations and related services.
For his part, PAGCOR chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco pointed to the weaker performance of the electronic gaming sector during the period.
“Revenues from Electronic Gaming declined considerably by 37.23% from P44.03 billion in 2025 to P27.63 billion this year,” said Tengco.
Moreover, PAGCOR’s licensed casino segment —the second-largest contributor to gaming revenues next to electronic eaming— also saw a decline with revenues amounting to P23.10 billion, down 3.22% from P23.87 billion a year earlier.
The state-run firm’s Casino Filipino branches likewise saw lower revenues, down 8% to P7.28 billion from P7.91 billion with revenues from poker operations declining by 4.60% to P105.86 million from P110.97 million.
With this, PAGCOR’s overall gaming revenues fell 23.44% to P58.13 billion from P75.93 billion in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, earnings from other related services also dropped 38.59% to P3.04 billion, while other income was almost flat at P3.23 billion, compared with P3.20 billion year-on-year.
The decline in gaming revenues and other related services resulted in a net income of P2.17 billion, down 84.85% from P14.32 billion year-on-year.
PAGCOR said the drop in its net income came after a Supreme Court ruling requiring the state-run firm to remit 5% of its gross revenues to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), “nearly double the previous remittance levels to the sports agency.”
Nevertheless, Tengco said PAGCOR will continue to strengthen its operations and regulatory oversight while ensuring that revenues from regulated gaming continue to support government programs and services.
“While we recognize the impact of lower gaming revenues on our financial performance, PAGCOR remains committed to carrying out its mandate,” said the PAGCOR chief.
“We will continue to pursue responsible and sustainable operations while ensuring that the gaming industry adheres to regulatory standards,” said Tengco.
Despite lower revenues, PAGCOR said it still remitted P45.28 billion in contributions to nation-building and other statutory obligations during the period.
Of the said amount, P27.61 billion went to the National Treasury as the government’s 50% share, P3.01billion went to the PSC, and Php2.90 billion was paid to the government as franchise taxes.
Other contributions to nation-building included P11.19 billion for socio-civic projects, P511.95 million for Casino Filipino host cities, P28.22 million in sports incentives for national athletes and their coaches who win in international competitions, and P15.85 million in corporate income tax. —VAL, GMA News
