Globe seeks connectivity integration in property development masterplans
Telecommunications firm Globe pushes for the early integration of telecommunications infrastructure in residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, citing the need to make connectivity provisions part of building plans before construction begins.
Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz said early coordination among property developers, architects, and technical teams would help ensure that infrastructure requirements are considered while projects are still being planned.
“The earlier we bring those perspectives together, the better we can plan for what comes next. While the plans are still being shaped, let us sit down together and determine what needs to be built in from the start, with enough flexibility to evolve over time,” Cruz said in a press release.
The initiative is aimed at addressing potential network infrastructure constraints during the development process, as installing connectivity facilities after construction could require costly redesigns and retrofitting.
The telecom company raised the proposal during its Collaboration Forum 2026, which brought together around 150 participants, including more than 100 external partners from the property sector, to discuss incorporating connectivity requirements into building designs and development masterplans.
Discussions during the forum covered residential, commercial, and estate developments, where network requirements may become more difficult to accommodate once building designs are finalized or construction is underway.
Globe is also supporting the government’s ongoing review of the National Building Code of the Philippines, which the company said could provide an opportunity to include telecommunications infrastructure in building standards.
Among its proposals is the incorporation of fiber-ready facilities and in-building connectivity solutions to ensure that properties can accommodate telecommunications services from the time they become operational.
Globe said integrating network requirements into development plans would also allow properties to adapt to future technologies and growing demand for digital services. —AOL, GMA News
