Vivant Energy Corp. will join the the pre-qualification and competitive selection process for the new power provider of Busuanga Island Electric Cooperative (Biselco), its parent company Vivant Energy Corp. said. In a disclosure, assistant corporate secretary Joan A. Giduquio-Baron said submission of technical and financial bids would be on Sept. 9 subject to changes by the Biselco bids and awards committee. The new power provider will be given a 15-year power supply agreement to provide the power supply requirements within Biselco's franchise area in Busuanga and Culion Islands in Palawan. A new power provider has the technical and financial capability to serve or take over existing National Power Corp.'s Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG), which is mandated by law to bring power to areas not connected to the main transmission grid. -Ruby Anne M.
