Universal Robina Corp., the Gokongwei Group’s food and beverage manufacturer, on Tuesday reported its net income was boosted more than 75 percent during the first quarter of fiscal 2012.   "URC's unaudited net income for the three months of fiscal 2012 amounted to P2.362 billion, higher by P1.017 billion or 75.6 percent from P1.345 billion posted in the same period last year,” the company said in a report to the Philippine Stock Exchange.   It said the gains were made “… due to increase in market values of bond and equity holdings and foreign exchange gain from foreign currency denominated transactions." URC's fiscal year is October to September.   Consolidated sale of goods and services improved by 8.7 percent to P18.198 billion, while selling and distribution costs and general and administrative expenses was up 14.8 percent to P2.632 billion.   URC is the maker of C2 drinks and snack foods Chippy, Chiz Curls and Nova under the Jack 'n Jill brand. — CMA/VS, GMA News
