Filinvest wins bid for 1.2-hectare property in Cebu

Gotianun-owned developer Filinvest Land Inc. on Tuesday said it won the bid for a 1.2 hectare property in Cebu City.   In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Filinvest said the property is under the build-transfer-operate scheme and is along Salinas Drive in Lahug, Cebu City. Under the BOT construction scheme, a private company may construct and operate an infrastructure facility for a period of time, provided, that the government will take over before or at the end of the 50-year fix term.   The developer plans to build business process outsourcing (BPO) office buildings on the property.   "FLI believes that Cebu, in particular, has good potential for this business. As of the end of 2011, FLI's BPO office building portfolio had over 170,000 square meters of gross leasable area from 12 buildings in North Cyberzone in Filinvest Corporate City in Muntinlupa City and PBCOm Tower in Makati City," Filinvest noted.

The property used to be occupied by the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center.

Aside from a ‘bullish’ outlook in the BPO sector, the company noted that Cebu can be a hub for the booming industry.
The company has a number of projects in Cebu, including the 50.6-hectare Citta di Mare in the South Road Properties and the construction of two mid-rise buildings Amalfi Oasis and San Remo Oasis.   "Other ongoing projects of FLI include One Oasis Cebu, a 3.7-hectare MRB development with a total of 10 buildings adjacent to the Cebu Golf and Country Club," FLI said.   The company's Grand Cenia Hotel and Residences condotel has also recently started operations as Quest Hotel and Conference Center, a three star hotel with business and conference facilities. — CMA/RRD/VS, GMA News
