Honda resumes distribution of Jazz

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. said on Sunday that it has resumed the distribution of its Jazz 1.3-liter automobile in the local market as deliveries of vehicles from Honda’s manufacturing plant in Thailand restarted.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc., or HCPI, stopped the sale of the Jazz after floods in Thailand affected its production in August of last year. The Thai plant restarted manufacturing vehicles in March 26, 2012.

HCPI halted its local operations from November 2011 to January this year due to the disruption in the supply chain of parts and completely built units, or CBUs, to the Philippines. In February this year, it announced its resumption of operations saying it had to import several models from Japan while the Thai facility was repaired.

HCPI President Tatsuya Natsume said that the recovery of the Thai facility in March 26 was earlier than expected.

Before the floods, HCPI was importing the Jazz from Thailand, along with the Accord, CR-V and CKD, or completely knocked down, parts for the local assembly of the Civic in its Sta. Rosa, Laguna plant.— DVM, GMA News
