Andrew Tan’s Empire East takes on Japanese investor Okada in Manila resort devt


Empire East Land Holdings Inc., the property development firm of Filipino-Chinese businessman Andrew Tan, has partnered with the group of Japanese gaming magnate Kazuo Okada to develop a luxury condominium resort project in Entertainment City Manila.   In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange Monday, Empire East said it will have “majority stake” in the 12.95-hectare development.   Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc., and Eagle 1 Landholdings Inc. are also set to join the venture.   The project consists of over 25 towers in several phases, according to the disclosure.   Empire East believes Entertainment City Manila will be “the next tourist hub in the Philippines” attracting a million tourists yearly, said company president Anthony Yu.   “With Empire East's participation in Entertainment City, we intend to make this place not just a great resort for tourists, but also a great resort community for people to live in," Yu said. — MJC/VS, GMA News
