Bonifacio Transport Corp. (BTC) spent P20 to P22 million to purchase three new 37-seater Mercedes Benz buses for Bonifacio Global City’s commuters.   These additional buses should lessen the waiting time of passengers to 10 minutes or less, Manny Blas II, head of operations at Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC), told GMA News Online.   Blas said that at present, eight out of 10 commuters in the BGC wait less than 10 minutes before a ride appears. With the addition of the new buses, the number will go up to nine out of 10 customers. He added that the purchase is a response to the growing number of commuters in BGC.   “The more passengers, the more buses will be needed to service them [for us] to reach our standard,” Blas said in a phone interview.   BTC general manager Jun Galvez in a press release Wednesday said that with the new acquisitions, BGC now has 19 buses. The buses currently in operation cater to 36,000 passengers daily on weekdays and 20,000 daily on weekends. According to the BGC website, the buses are powered by eco-friendly engines and can carry up to 90 passengers at a time. Its terminal is located at the corner of EDSA and Ayala.   BTC is a wholly owned subsidiary of FBDC, the owner and management company of BGC. - BM, GMA News
