SkyJet gets temporary CAB permit to run commercial operations

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has issued a temporary operating permit for SkyJet Airlines to run commercial operations in the Philippines, the airline said in a statement Wednesday.   The permit would allow SkyJet to fly to “unserved or underserved” destinations, said CEO Joel Mendoza of Magnum Air which owns the airline.   The permit, issued on Aug. 3, 2012, was “effective immediately,” according to a SkyJet statement Wednesday which noted the airline run commercial flights to Basco in Batanes, Virac in Catanduanes, Catarman in Camiguin, and Surigao in Surigao del Norte.

“We sell tourism destinations, not airline seats. And so we partner with local governments who share the same vision of responsible tourism," Mendoza said.  — MJC/VS, GMA News
