Globe offers lower IDD call rate promo


Globe Telecom has announced that its latest international direct dialing (IDD) offer, GoIDD, allows subscribers to make IDD calls for as low as P1.50 per minute to the US Mainland, Canada, China, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand. Using GoIDD, Globe Prepaid subscribers can make as much as 133 minutes of voice calls, the network said in a statement. GoIDD costs P200 and is valid for 30 days. The promo is offered until February 28, 2013. The company also reported that as of end-June, total international long distance (ILD) minutes grew 15 percent year-on-year, with outbound traffic growing by 11 percent in total ILD minutes. For the first half of 2012, Globe’s prepaid subscribers stood at 16.1 million, up nine percent from last year’s 14.7 million and two percent more than the previous quarter’s 15.8 million. Globe Prepaid accounted for 51 percent of the network’s mobile subscriber base. Second quarter gross acquisitions remained strong with three million new subscribers, two percent more than the past quarter’s 2.9 million. Cumulative gross acquisitions for the first half of the year were likewise up six percent from 5.6 million last year to 5.9 million new SIMs this period.
