Business process outsourcing (BPO) firms were not among the companies Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) had in mind when the company planned on developing One Bonifacio High Street, which broke ground on Tuesday.

For one, the office-space and retail tower does not have electro-mechanical features required by BPO companies, ALI president Antonio Aquino told reporters during a briefing.

One Bonifacio High, the single biggest investment in any area by ALI and partners Evergreen holdings Inc. and Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, the P28.2 billion development is expected to be completed in 2016.

Aquino said 19,000 sqm of its 29,000 sqm office area will be the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) with a 2,000 sqm trading floor.

The consortium and the PSE are now in talks for a final cost-sharing deal, noted ALI manager for development and planning Carol Mills.

One Bonifacio High will also host the six-star hotel Shangri-La, Ayala Land Premiere's The Suites, and a four-story, 24,000 sqm retail area.

Ayala Land Premiere is finishing the year with an estimated P24 billion in sales – up 24 percent from 2011 – of which 46 percent can be traced to projects in Bonifacio Global City.  — VS, GMA News
