Airphil Express rebrands itself PAL Express

Philippine Airlines' low-cost subsidiary Airphil Express will be rebranded PAL Express beginning Friday. It will also become a full-service carrier like its parent company. “It’s not just a name change, but an alignment of two standards into one. With this rebranding, PAL and PAL Express will be full service carriers in terms of service, but Low Cost Carrier (LCC) in terms of managing costs,” said PAL president Ramon S. Ang in a statement issued Thursday. Every Airphil Express plane will carry PAL's “sunriser” livery and logo on its tail and fuselage. As a full-service carrier, PAL Express will offer its passengers amenities such as complimentary snacks, drinks and reading materials on board. PAL Express passengers can also earn miles through membership in Mabuhay Miles. However, PAL and PAL Express will remain distinct and independent, with PAL flights manned by PAL crew and PAL Express flights flown by Airphil Express crew. PAL Express will also maintain a different website and hotline number from PAL. The two airlines are also aligning their policies, procedures and standards as part of Airphil's rebranding. — BM, GMA News
