The Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ormeco) has declared DMCI Power Corporation the lone qualified bidder for the construction, operation and maintenance of a 15-megawatt bunker-fired diesel power plant in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.

DMCI Power, a unit of DMCI Holdings Inc., made the cut on June 28, but the decision is still subject to the results of the post-qualification evaluation, the company said in a statement.

Two other firms participated in the bidding but were disqualified due to deficiencies in their bid documentary submissions: Sta. Clara Power Corp. and Mindoro Grid Corporation.

The two companies have asked Ormeco to reconsider its decision.

Last year, DMCI Power bagged the supply contract for Palawan Electric Cooperative’s (Paleco) 25MW power plant.

DMCI also operates a 24.4 MW diesel power plant in Brgy. Tugbo, Mobo, Masbate and a 600 MW coal-fired power plant in Calaca, Batangas. — BM, GMA News
