Three airlines cancel Hong Kong flights due to Super Typhoon Usagi


Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cathay Pacific, and Tiger Airways Philippines (Tigerair/SEAIR) on Monday canceled Manila-to-Hong Kong flights due to inclement weather caused by Super Typhoon Usagi.
 
Waiving rebooking fees, PAL said passengers may rebook on other flights once the weather clears.
 
In a separate e-mailed advisory, Cathay Pacific said Cathay Pacific and Dragonair passengers with onward connecting flights beyond Hong Kong on September 24 were told not to go to the airport anymore because of the impact of Super Typhoon Usagi in Hong Kong.
 
Cathay Pacific waived rebooking fees for tickets issued on or before September 21 for travel between September 22 and 24. 
 
In a text advisory to news outlets, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has canceled three flights to Hong Kong due to weather conditions which include:
  • PR312/313 Manila-Hong Kong-Manila
  • PR300/301 Manila-Hong Kong-Manila
  • PR318/319 Manila-Hong Kong-Manila.
Tigerair/SEAIR canceled the following flights:
  • Sept 23, DG7924, Clark-Hong Kong 0720H-0915H
  • Sept 23, DG7925, Hong Kong-Clark, 0945H-1140H
The airline said passengers may call Tigerair Hotline at +632-798-4488 or log on to www.tigerair.com for more information.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation and Communication said on its official Twitter account the following domestic flights were canceled:
  • 2P-084 Manila-Basco
  • 2P-085 Basco-Manila
  • 2P-081 Manila-Kalibo
  • 2P-082 Kalibo-Manila
  • 5J-585 Manila-Cebu (due to aircraft situation).
Canceled flights due to sunset limitation, flights can only operate during the day:
  • 2P-263 Manila-Naga
  • 2P-264 Naga-Manila
  • 2P-073 Manila-Caticlan
  • 2P-074 Caticlan-Manila.
Super Typhoon Usagi, locally known as Typhoon Odette, is so far the most powerful storm of the year, bringing torrential rains and strong winds to the Philippines and Taiwan Saturday.
 
Moderate to heavy rains due to the southwest monsoon (Habagat) as Typhoon Odette left the country also battered Metro Manila and Northern Luzon on Sunday and Monday and slammed into Southern China, including Hong Kong. – Danessa Rivera/VS, GMA News
