The Home Development Mutual Fund, commonly known as the Pag-IBIG Fund, will appeal the Court of Appeals (CA)'s ruling clearing Globe Asiatique founder Delfin Lee in a P6.65-billion syndicated estafa case.

In a statement, Vice President Jejomar Binay, who chairs the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, said he has already directed the agency's leadership to challenge the CA decision before the Supreme Court (SC).

“We will pursue our fight for justice for the ordinary Filipino workers. We will exhaust all legal remedies to ensure that the homeowners who were defrauded by Globe Asiatique and victimized by Mr. Lee will be given justice,” Binay said in his statement.

Last February, the CA upheld its earlier ruling quashing syndicated estafa charges against Globe Asiatique documentation head Christina Sagun for lack of evidence.

The decision effectively cleared and recalled the arrest warrant against Lee, one of the co-accused in the syndicated estafa case.

Last February, the Supreme Court granted the Department of Justice (DOJ)'s petition contesting the CA ruling on the syndicated estafa case. The manhunt against Lee resumed after the high court made this decision.
