Expanding its mall business, Gokongwei-led property developer Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) is opening a Robinsons Place each in Roxas in the Visayas and in Santiago in Northern Luzon this month.

Robinsons Roxas and Robinsons Santiago, which will open on Feb. 13 and Feb. 19 respectively, will bring RLC's total network of shopping malls to 37.

"RLC continues to strengthen its presence in the Visayas-Mindanao regions where it now operates 11 shopping malls (excluding Roxas) while the property firm now owns seven shopping malls in Northern Luzon (excluding Santiago)," senior vice president and general manager for Commercial Centers Division Arlene G. Magtibay said in an e-mailed statement to reporters Monday.

"Even before they have opened their doors to the public, we are happy to announce that both malls are already 99 percent leased out due to strong interest from both local and nationwide retailers and restaurant chains," said Magtibay.

RLC is banking on the strategic location of the malls to attract consumers from nearby cities and towns in Iloilo and Antique for Robinsons Roxas and the neighboring towns and cities in Northern Luzon for Robinsons Santiago.

RLC's commercial center division closed fiscal year 2013 – ending Sept. 30 – with P7.39 billion in revenues, accounting for 46 percent of the company's total revenues. – Danessa Rivera/VS, GMA News
