To ensure alternative supply for more than 400,000 residents affected by water supply problems in parts of Cavite and Metro Manila, regulator Metropolitan Waterworks Sewerage System (MWSS) on Wednesday said it deployed teams that will also monitor the situation.

Acting chief Emmanuel Caparas said the MWSS Regulatory Office conducts field monitoring if a planned water service interruption will last more than 24 hours.

“We have deployed our monitoring team to assess the situation on the ground and assure continuous water supply to affected areas serviced by Maynilad,” Caparas said in an e-mailed statement.

Earlier, water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc., a unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.,  had announced a service interruption that may last through most of the Holy Week.

Caparas said the MWSS and Maynilad "are working to ensure that needed services are provided to assure continuous water supply in the affected areas.”

A report on GMA News' "24 Oras" Tuesday evening said water trucks will go through the affected areas to deliver the commodity.

Caparas urged the public to prepare for the situation by storing enough water in clean containers. – Joel Locsin/VS, GMA News
