Aboitiz units merge to improve logistics business

Aboitiz One Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of listed firm Aboitiz Transport Systems Corp., will be merging with Aboitiz Logistics Inc., with Aone as the surviving entity. In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange, ATS said the merger will be submitted for the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission and is "expected to further improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of the services of Aone as a unified group." Aone is a one-stop shop logistics solution and transportation services provider in the country. It is engaged in the business of air, land and sea transportation including carrying and transporting of any and allkinds of goods and cargo, chartering, and acting as courier of mails, letters and pouches of all kinds. Aboitiz Logistics, meanwhile, provides various supply chain management and logistics services such as freight forwarding, container yard management, warehousing and distribution, as well as trucking. "Operating as part of an integrated, unified Aone group, (Aboitiz Logistics) is focused on providing seamless total logistics solutions to major importers into the Philippines requiring national as well as major exporters from the Philippines requiring global distribution," ATS said.-GMANews.TV
