President Benigno Aquino III and the National Economic and Development Authority Board approved late Thursday the master plan for Clark Green City, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) head said Friday.
BCDA president and CEO Arnel Casanova shared on his Facebook account photos from President Aquino's official Facebook album showing the meeting of the NEDA Board, which Aquino chairs.
"This is the meeting where the President and the NEDA Board approved the Clark Green City Masterplan and the first phase of its development," Casanova said.
The BCDA chief said the approval was given at 11:25 p.m. Thursday.
This is the first time the Philippines will "build a smart, green and disaster-resilient metropolis," Casanova noted.
BCDA is tapping the World Bank for funds to start developing Clark Green City, which covers 40,000 hectares and encompasses the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone. It is eyed for development as a destination for investors. – Joel Locsin/VS, GMA News
